Ohio State and Michigan never seem to stop going after each other, and this past football season was one for the ages due to how great the teams were and the big-time cheating scandal that Michigan was involved in.
Michigan found itself in a sign-stealing scandal when a former staff member, Connor Stalions, was accused of illegally sending people out to film the opposing team’s sidelines and steal their signs, which is against the rules. He stepped down from the staff last November, and head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended by the conference for the last three games of the Big Ten season.
Michigan would finish 15-0 last season, beating Ohio State and then Alabama in the Rose Bowl, Washington, in the title game to take over the college football world. Many think their title shouldn’t count due to their cheating scandal, and one big-time staff member for Ohio State believes an asterisk should be added to it.
Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith was on All Sides with Anna Staver and was asked if Michigan should have an asterisk on their title and said, “Of course I do.”
Smith is going out with a bang because he is set to retire from his position as the school’s athletic director this July, and he made sure to take a shot at his biggest rival at least one more time.More must-reads:
